My Writing

I've decided to try my hand at writing on the Internet. Most of the writing I do will focus on topics with which I have personal experience such as parenting, homeschooling, self-employment, special needs children and complementary and alternative medicine. My aim is to simultaneously share important information with others seeking answers to their questions while challenging myself to expand my writing skills.

About Me

I was born and raised in Nebraska, where I currently live with my husband and 4 wonderful children, ages 8-14. From the time of my first child's birth through the fall of 2006, I was a stay-at-home, homeschooling mom. I homeschooled my oldest child again for a short time during the '08-'09 school year as we searched for the best educational choice for him. I currently homeschool my two youngest children, one of whom is a special needs child with Pervasive Developmental Disorder-Not Otherwise Specified (an autism spectrum disorder also known as PDD-NOS), Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD) and other learning challenges. I have thoroughly enjoyed these opportunities to be with my children and see them learn as they grow older.

In the fall of 2006, I began a residential cleaning service. I discontinued this business to homeschool my youngest child, beginning in the fall of 2009. During the summer of 2009, I began writing for several online content sites, including HubPages. I currently work online in content creation and various other venues. Though this leaves me with a very full plate, I still feel excited when I realize that any path I would like to take with my business is totally up to me; I love that kind of freedom and independence!

When I'm not spending time on my children or business, I enjoy spending time with my husband and other family, watching movies (psychological-type thrillers are my favorites), and reading books of all genres.

I have dabbled in creating blogs and websites and am currently designing my own website in the area of complementary and alternative medicine.
